The Jackets came out firing in the opening frame, taking an early lead. Kauf got the bats started by adding yet another double to her gaudy season total before Awald drove her in on a single through the middle, moving Tech ahead, 1-0. Clemson bounced back in the bottom half, swatting a two-run home run to slip in front, 2-1. The Tigers added a pair in the bottom of the third, knocking a solo shot and an RBI single to slide ahead by three. As neither side managed to cross the plate through the final four innings, Clemson stood pat and came away with the win, 4-1.
Game Notes
- Kauf added yet another double as she remains second in program history in doubles through a season, rising up to 22 on the year, still leading the ACC and placing second in the NCAA.
- Awald picked up another walk to bolster her program record of career walks up to 165. On the season, her 48 walks currently rank third in program history.
- Awald’s perfect day at the plate marked the sixth time this season she’s batted 1.000 in a single game.
