Women’s Basketball Completes Signing Class

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball head coach Nell Fortner announced the signing of four future Yellow Jackets– Raeven Boswell, Kara Dunn, Tonie Morgan and Inés Noguero Outeiral.

Raeven Boswell – 5’11”, G (Austin, Texas/Lake Travis High School)
Competing in basketball, track and field and volleyball at Lake Travis High School, Boswell has helped the Cavaliers garner district distinction. She helped basketball claim district championships in 2019-20 and 2020-21, and was awarded all-state honors by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. Boswell is a three-time All-Vype honoree (2019, 2020 and 2021), and earned a spot on the 2021 All-Centex second team. Owning the school record for career points, Boswell is also a three-time all-district first team honoree and was named the 2019 all-district newcomer. She averaged 13.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game in high school.

Boswell also helped volleyball collect back-to-back district championships in 2019-20 and 2020-21, and helped lead the Cavaliers to regional quarterfinals in 2019 and 2020. As a member of the track and field team, Boswell and the Cavaliers were district champions in 2020-21. Boswell comes from a long line of athletes in her family, including her father, Mark, who was a two-time Olympic high jumper for Canada, competing in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

“Everyone is going to enjoy watching Raeven Boswell play,” noted Fortner. “She is a phenomenal athlete with a strong skill set with her speed, quickness and ability to jump. But she also has versatility in her game and, with our style of play, will be a great defender and a fast transition offensive player on this team. We’re excited to gain her athleticism and skills in our program.”

Kara Dunn – 5’11”, G (Kennesaw, Ga./Mount Paran Christian School)
A multi-sport athlete at Mount Paran Christian School, Dunn helped lead the Eagles to 2021 region championships in both basketball and volleyball. Most recently, Dunn and the Eagles captured the 2021 1A Private State Volleyball Championship in November 2021. The local native was named basketball’s most valued player three times (2019-21), the GHSA Region 7 Player of the Year and 2021 first team all-Georgia and Class A Player of the Year by Sandy Spiel. She will graduate having accumulated over 2,000-career points as an Eagle and averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. In addition to her accomplishments on the basketball court, Dunn was also named the GHSSA Region 7 Player of the Year in volleyball after helping the Eagles to a region championship.

Dunn is a highly-touted prospect being ranked the No. 1 small forward in Georgia by Sandy Spiel and the No. 2 overall class of 2022 recruit in the state of Georgia by PrepGirlsHoops. She boasts a No. 49 ranking by ASGR, No. 61 by ESPN and owns a spot on the 2022 Top 150 List by Prospects Nation. Dunn is ranked 16^th in her position by ESPN.

“Kara Dunn was a player that we identified immediately when we got the job at Georgia Tech in 2019 and we are extremely excited to see her signing come to fruition,” Fortner said. “Kara joins a signing class that is full of versatility, whether it is the ability to bring the ball up the floor, post up somebody or shoot the three. Kara embodies that versatility with her size and skill set.”

Tonie Morgan – 5’9”, G (Tallahassee, Fla./ Florida State University Schools)
Helping lead Florida State University Schools to five-straight district championships, Morgan was a finalist for the 2021 Florida Panhandle High School Sports Awards Female Basketball Player of the Year. For her successes on the hardwood, Morgan is also a two-time all-state nominee and three-time all-Big Bend first team recipient. Most recently, she was named to the Naismith High School Player of the Year Watch List in November. Surpassing 1,000 career points before her senior season, the Tallahassee, Fla., native helped FSUS claim a regional championship in 2017. A member of the varsity basketball team since seventh grade, Morgan was also a member of the National Honor Society at FSUS. She also competed in four seasons of track and field in high school in long jump and 400 relay.

The 2021 All-Big Bend Player of the Year, Morgan averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.4 assists per game in high school. By ESPN, she is ranked No. 24 overall and No. 6 in her position.

“Tonie is an extremely talented point guard that garners respect from teams at every level with her range of skills on the floor including her three-point shooting range, her ability to drive and get to the basket, and her decision making,” commented Fortner. “Her basketball IQ at the point guard position will help elevate every teammate around her. We’ve very excited to have her join our team as we continue to build this program into a national contender.”

Inés Noguero Outeiral – 5’9”, G (Gijón, Spain/Joaquim Blume)
A shooting guard from Gijón, Spain, Noguero brings a wealth of Spanish National Team experience to The Flats. As part of her international experience, Noguero placed first in a U17 3×3 event in Europe in 2021 and was third in the world in a skills championship in 2020. She averaged 6.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. A multi-sport athlete, Noguero also competed in swimming for two years.

“Inés is a very focused, high character student-athlete who has competed at a very competitive level her entire career,” said Rachel Galligan, founder of Go Global Recruiting. “She has only begun to scratch the surface with her potential as a player. Inés is a versatile guard who can handle it, shoot it and plays with a very smart basketball IQ. She fits the system and culture Nell Fortner and her staff are building at Georgia Tech, and will help continue to compete at the very top of the ACC for years to come.”

“Inés fits exactly into what we were going after in this singing class, and that is athleticism, size and versatility,” Fortner said. “Before even arriving at Georgia Tech, she has already played at a high level bringing with her Spanish National Team playing experience. We are also excited to continue that Spanish pipeline at Georgia Tech with her joining Nerea Hermosa and Aixa Wone Aranaz. To gain Inés’ skills and versatility, again, makes this an outstanding women’s basketball signing class for Georgia Tech.”
