Tech’s Comeback Falls Short to Friars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Despite a late rally in the seventh to tie the game, Georgia Tech softball (0-1) fell 4-3 in extra innings to Providence (1-1) on Friday evening in its opening game of the River City Leadoff.

E4 | Providence put two on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Tech back up trailing 2-0.

E5 | Providence adds another in the bottom of the fifth to lead 3-0.

In the top of the sixth, sophomore Breanna Roper loaded the bases on a single through the right side after senior Katie Krzus drew a walk and sophomore Tricia Awald was hit by a pitch.

Pinch hitter Drew Puckett drove in Krzus and Awald with a two-RBI double to put Tech on the board.

Sophomore Rebecca Prairie brought home Awald on an RBI double to knot the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh. Junior Amber Johns came into the circle to force the game into extra innings.
