ATLANTA – The 29th-ranked Georgia Tech men’s tennis team fell to No. 35 Wake Forest, 4-3, Sunday in an Atlantic Coast Conference match at Winston-Salem, N.C.
Tech dropped a 4-3 match for the second straight day to fall to 0-2 in the ACC and 5-5 overall, while Wake Forest improved to 7-1, 1-0 ACC.
The Jackets took a 1-0 lead by taking the double point behind victories from Scott Schnugg and West Nott at No. 2 doubles and Joao Menano and Fabio Campos at the No. 3 flight. At No. 1 doubles, Tech’s Roger Anderson and David Wright, ranked 51st, fell to the 27th-ranked duo of David Loewenthal and Trent Brendon.
Anderson, ranked 26th nationally, knocked off the 24th-ranked Loewenthal at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 6-3, but the Jackets managed just one other singles victory as Nott defeated Justin Kauffman, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 6.
Tech returns to action Friday, hosting William and Mary at 11 a.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
