Men's Tennis Drops Match to Louisville

The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team dropped its second consecutive match of the season, falling to Louisville on Saturday, 6-1. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 5-5 on the year while the Jackets fall to 5-2.

The Yellow Jackets opened the match by dropping the doubles point as Joao Menano and Trevor McLeod fell at No. 3 to Damar Johnson and Javier Herrera, 8-3. Louisville then clinched the doubles point as the tandem of Matt Mayer and Jeremy Clark defeated Scott Schnugg and Marko Rajevac at the No. 1 flight, 8-6. At the No. 2 doubles flight, West Nott and Jason Pieters paired to defeat Oltavian Nicodim and Jakob Gustafsson, 9-7.

The Jackets opened singles play with a win at No. 1 singles, as Schnugg defeated Nicodim in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. That would be the only point the Jackets would earn as Mayer defeated Pieters 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, Johnson fought back to beat Nott in three setsat No. 3, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, Johnny Berrido held on to win at No. 4 singles, 7-6, 6-4, Marko Rajevac fell in straights sets at No. 5 to Gustafsson, 6-3,6-1 and Zachary Rath dropped the final match of the afternoon at No. 6, 6-1, 7-5 to Clark.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action and begin conference play, facing Duke on Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. in Durham, NC.
