ATLANTA — The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team claimed its highest ranking in 13 years Wednesday when it climbed to No. 20 in the WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings, announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The Yellow Jackets, who began the season ranked No. 73 nationally, jumped five spots from last week’s poll after defeating Florida State and Wake Forest. Georgia Tech has won 11 of its last 12 matches, with its only loss to then-No. 3 Duke.
The Yellow Jackets bring a 16-4 overall record and a 6-1 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference into Friday’s regular-season finale against North Carolina at Bill Moore Tennis Center. Tech is currently second in the ACC standings, while the third-ranked Tar Heels enter the matchup with a 9-7 overall record and a 4-2 conference mark.
