ATLANTA (Oct 17) – Georgia Tech junior Sergio Aguirre reached the finals of the A singles flight, and Yellow Jacket freshman Roger Anderson advanced to the finals in the B singles flight Sunday on the second day of the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
Aguirre defeated Richard Crabtree of Abraham Baldwin College, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, in the semifinals, and Anderson topped Florida A&M’s Issac Yarrell in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Aguirre will meet Georgia’s Lesley Joseph, a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 winner over Virginia’s John Winter, for the flight A title Monday at 10 a.m. Anderson will meet Clemson’s Lee Porter, a 7-6 (4), 3-6, 7-5 winner over Furman’s John Chesworth for the flight B title.
Tech’s David Wright also advanced to the finals of the flight A consolation draw with a default win over teammate Romain Coirault. Tech’s Robert Wright also advanced to the final in the B flight consolation draw with a 6-2, 7-6 (4) win over Ryan O’Keefe of Georgia Southern.
The tournament concludes on Monday.
