Full Collegiate Baseball Release

THE FLATS – For the second-straight week Georgia Tech, baseball junior Kyle McCann was named a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week after continuing to roll at the plate and helping Tech to a 3-2 record last week, the organization announced Monday.

The Yellow Jackets ended a tough stretch that feature five games in six days, including opening up Atlantic Coast Conference play at Miami (Fla.). McCann remained hot at the plate, hitting .389 with a herculean 1.167 overall slugging percentage. He finished with seven hits, two doubles and four home runs, while also drawing six walks for an on-base percentage of .542.

After this weekend, McCann is now the ACC home run leader (10), RBI leader (24) and slugging leader (.933) on the season thus far. Compared to the rest of the country, his 10 homers rank third, slugging ranks sixth and his RBI rank ninth.

The Yellow Jackets return home this week to host Georgia Southern in a midweek battle on March 12 before hosting its ACC home opener against Virginia on March 15-17.
