McAdoo Picks Up ACC Player of the Week Honor

Jan. 12, 2016

THE FLATS – Junior Rasheeda McAdoo was named the ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week following the season opener, the conference office announced Tuesday.

McAdoo went 2-0 in the No. 23 Yellow Jackets’ (1-0) season-opening 7-0 win against UAB. The Boca Raton, Fla., native paired up with sophomore Johnnise Renaud to defeat Pardis Kianoush and Elaine Simon, 6-1, in doubles and clinch the doubles point for Georgia Tech.

McAdoo, who is ranked as the No. 92 singles player, faced Kianoush on court one and rolled to a 6-1 6-2 victory. McAdoo was playing on court one in singles for the first time in her career.

McAdoo is the first Yellow Jacket to garner ACC Player of the Week accolades since current senior Natasha Proknevska was honored on Feb. 18, 2014.

The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team hits the road this weekend, traveling to Michigan for the Michigan Invitational from Jan. 16-18.
