Matthew Boggs named to Verizon Academic All-America District III baseball team

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech senior Matthew Boggs was named to the Verizon Academic All-America District III baseball team for the third time in his career. He is one of 11 players to be selected by College Sports Information Directors of America.

The third baseman has started 44 games for the ninth-ranked Yellow Jackets (39-10), accumulating a .337 batting average. Boggs has an on-base percentage rate of .422. He has 55 hits for this season, driving in 30 runs. He set the Georgia Tech record by being hit by pitches 52 times in his career, which is the third highest total in Atlantic Coast Conference history.

With a 3.31 grade point average, Boggs has already earned a degree in Textile Engineering and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Textile Engineering. He is a four-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and serves on the Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Board.

Boggs is now eligible for the Verizon Academic All-America Team, which will be announced June 4.
