Mahoney Meets NCAA Provisional Mark at Stanford Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. – With personal-best time of 3:42.85 in the 1500 meters Saturday, Georgia Tech sophomore Brendon Mahoney became the third member of the Yellow Jacket track squad at least provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships this weekend at the Stanford Invitational.

Mahoney, who earned All-America honors in the mile during the indoor season, eclipsed his personal best by nearly three seconds to finish third in the race.

In addition to Mahoney’s performance, junior Katie Griffin posted an automatic qualifying mark in the 10,000 meters, while sophomore Renee Metivier provisionally qualified in the 5000 meters. Both races were on Friday.

The Jackets return to action next weekend when the host the Yellow Jacket Invitational Saturday at George C. Griffin Track.
