Last Day of NFCA Leadoff Classic Cancelled Due to Weather

Feb. 27, 2005

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Georgia Tech finished the NFCA Leadoff Classic with a rainout. The officials called the game due to inclement weather in the top of the fourth inning, with the Yellow Jackets holding a 1-0 lead on Texas State.

Georgia Tech took the lead in the fourth inning on a RBI double by senior third baseman Katie Donovan. Christine Sheridan walked to lead off the inning and stole second to put the Jackets in scoring position. Donovan fouled off a couple of pitches before ripping an RBI double to left field.

With the rain coming down for the entire game, officials decided that field conditions were too bad to continue play.

Georgia Tech softball will return to action on Wednesday, March 2, when they travel to Birmingham, Ala. to face UAB in a game set to begin at 7 p.m.
