Kuchar Named Rolex College Golfer of the Month

ATLANTA (Mar. 8) – Georgia Tech senior Matt Kuchar (Lake Mary, Florida) has been named the Rolex College Golfer of the Month for February, after he won an individual title at Rolex Collegiate Tour event last month.

Kuchar tied for individual medalist honors at the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate with teammate Bryce Molder. It was the second consecutive year Kuchar has won co-medalist honors at the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate. He shot a six-under par 208 (68-69-71) while helping to lead Georgia Tech to the team title. The win was Kuchar’s seventh at Georgia Tech, which is one shy of David Duval’s school record of eight individual titles.

In his second tournament of the month, Kuchar tied for fourth place at the Puerto Rico Golf Classic at Rio Mar. He shot 73-68-71 (212, -4) while helping the Yellow Jackets to their second team title in February, and third overall this season. Ranked No. 3 in the latest edition of the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, Kuchar tallied a stroke average of 70.00 for the month (six rounds).

The Rolex College Golfer of the Month award is voted on by members of the College Golf Foundation’s Golfer of the Month Committee. The award is based primarily on results from Rolex Collegiate Tour events, plus conference championships, NCAA Regionals and the NCAA Championships. Each winner will receive a certificate from the College Golf Foundation in recognition of this honor.

The Rolex College Golfer of the Month award is administered by the College Golf Foundation, a non-profit organization, founded with the corporate support of Rolex Watch U.S.A. and also sustained by an alliance with MasterCard International, dedicated to the growth and promotion of men’s and women’s collegiate golf.
