Knobbe Blasts 13th Homer to Lead Tech Softball in Buzz Classic

ATLANTA (March 24) – Catcher Anne Knobbe belted her 13th home run and Jamie Smith scattered four hits for her ninth victory of the season to lead Georgia Tech to a 4-2 victory over Marshall in Tech’s Buzz Classic at the Al Bishop Softball Complex.

Erin Hawley contributed two hits and drove in one for the Jackets, who jumped to a 3-0 lead in the third inning with the help of a Marshall error and a passed ball before Knobbe’s blast in the fifth inning extended Tech’s advantage to 4-1.

Tech (16-20) dropped its second game of the tournament, 2-1, to the College of Charleston (13-11) as Cougars’ pitcher Kenzie Kohler limited Tech to seven hits and one unearned run.
