Jan. 29, 2007

ATLANTA – Senior Ashlee Kidd was named Atlantic Coast Conference Track and Field Performer of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.

Kidd, a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., finished third in the women’s 200-meter dash with a season- and team-best time of 23.44 at the Penn State National Open on Saturday. Her time is also the best in the conference this season. Kidd’s time provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship. She also placed second in the 400-meter dash with another NCAA provisional-, season- and team-best time of 53.22.

The senior, who was tabbed ACC Performer of the Week for the first time in her career, is one of three track and field athletes at Tech to qualify for the NCAA Championships this year.

The Yellow Jackets will next compete in the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 2-3, in South Bend, Ind., on the campus of Notre Dame.
