Johnson, Barry Team Up Again For Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge

April 23, 2018

THE FLATS – For the 11th-straight year, Georgia Tech football head coach Paul Johnson and GT basketball legend Jon Barry will team up to represent the Yellow Jackets in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge golf tournament, which is set for Sunday, April 29-Wednesday, May 2 at the Ritz Carlton Resort at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga.

The most successful pairing in the history of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge, Johnson and Barry have won the tournament a record four times (2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015). They’ve also finished among the top three teams in nine of the 10 years that they have participated.

The duo has won a total of $770,000 in their 10 appearances at the tournament, which has benefited endowed scholarships at Georgia Tech and selected charities. This year, Johnson’s and Barry’s selected charity is the Methodist Home of the South Georgia Conference, Inc.

This year’s 12th-annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge will feature an 11-team field of college football head coaches paired with celebrity alums competing for a $650,000 total purse. The tournament will be a two-man scramble format, using confirmed handicap adjustments and also include a skills competition. In all, the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge has provided $6.8 million in donations to scholarship funds and charities over its 11-year history.

The event will be recorded and broadcast on ESPN later this year.
