THE FLATS – Georgia Tech football head coach Paul Johnson and men’s basketball legend Jon Barry earned $37,500 for Georgia Tech student scholarships and the Methodist Home of the South Georgia Conference, Inc. at this week’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge golf tournament.

With their $37,500 in winnings at this year’s tournament, Johnson and Barry upped their all-time Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl earnings to an 11-year total of $807,500, which has been split evenly between a scholarship fund for Georgia Tech students and selected charities.

Johnson and Barry, who have won the tournament a record four times, shot five-under-par to finish tied for seventh in this year’s handicap-adjusted 11-team field. The Ole Miss team of Matt Luke and Wesley Walls carded an 11-under-par score to win this year’s event at the Ritz Carlton Resort at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga.

The tournament was recorded and will be broadcast on ESPN later this year.
