KENT, Ohio – Andrew Jenkins started the game off with a first-inning, two-run homer and Georgia Tech would never look back, defeated Kent State, 9-5, on Tuesday Night at Schoonover Stadium.
Jenkins’ home run marked the third-straight game for the sophomore with a long ball and fourth in his last five. Stephen Reid also homered to make it four homers for him in his last three games as the Yellow Jackets (30-21) have been red hot of late.
Middle infielders Chandler Simpson and Jadyn Jackson also finished with multiple hits as Simpson knocked three and Jackson hit two.
On the mound, Tech once again looked good as RHP Chance Huff (4-4) went the first four innings, allowing just two runs on one home run while scattering three other hits. He struck out five overall on the night. RHP Aeden Finateri, LHP Sam Crawford, and LHP Camron Hill allowed just one run over the next four innings before true freshman RHP Cameron Clines allowed two.
The Golden Flashes (21-28) were led by Justin Miknis, who hit the two-run homer. RHP Max Rippl (2-3) received the loss, surrendering six runs on six hits in 2.1 innings to start.
Georgia Tech will now make the 90 minute drive to Pittsburgh where it finishes up the regular season on May 19-21. First pitches are set for 6 p.m., 6 p.m., and 1 p.m. on Thursday-Saturday and will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra and WREK 91.1 FM.
