>> Georgia Tech continues its seven-game homestand on Tuesday night, welcoming Western Carolina for a 6 p.m. game at Russ Chandler Stadium.

>> The Catamounts (8-5) are under the direction of seventh-year head coach Bobby Moranda, who served as an assistant coach at Tech under Danny Hall from 2002-07.

>> Tech and WCU have not met since the 2009 season, when the teams split a home-and-home series. All time, the Jackets lead the series, 18-16.

>> Junior Thomas Smith carries a career-best 11-game hitting streak into Tuesday’s game and the infielder has pushed his average to .327 (15th in the ACC). His 11-game hit streak is tied for the second-longest in the ACC.

>> Freshman lefty Tanner Shelton will make his first career start Tuesday night. The rookie has been impressive from the bullpen, with a 1.23 ERA in five previous relief appearances.

>> Following tonight’s game, the Jackets remain home to welcome Miami in an ACC Coastal Division showdown this weekend.
