Box Score (.pdf)

DURHAM, N.C. – With both teams trading blows, RHP Ben King and RHP Terry Busse proved to be the ultimate 1-2 punch, shutting down No. 10 Duke over the final six innings to power Georgia Tech baseball the 8-5 victory and series win on Sunday afternoon at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

The Yellow Jackets (30-21, 12-15 ACC) turned to the bullpen in a one-run game in the fourth, letting King work to 3.0 innings and holding the 10th-ranked Blue Devils (34-16, 15-11 ACC) to just one hit and striking them out twice. After a career-long 57 pitches, King handed the ball to Busse, who turned in 3.0 innings of two-hit, four-strikeout work to pick up his second save of the weekend and ninth save of the season.

Tech jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, before scoring in each of the first five innings to create its advantage. Duke scratched across one run in each of the first two innings before a three-spot in the third tied the game. The Blue Devils wouldn’t score again from there.

At the plate, Kristian Campbell led the way with a 4-for-5 day, hitting two doubles and driving in a run. He also made two spectacular defensive plays at second base to keep runs off the board. Drew Compton finished an RBI double and solo home run, while Tyler Minnick rounded out the two-hit days, including a double.

Angelo Dispigna got it all started with a three-run homer in the first, while Jake DeLeo drove in a run on his lone hit of the day as well.

Duke was led by Luke Storm, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI double. RHP Aidan Weaver (3-3) took the loss, surrendering four runs on four hits in 2.1 innings of relief work.
