THE FLATS – Day two of the GT Invite concluded Saturday. Tech men’s tennis players played four matches on the day, winning three.
The day was characterized by long, hard fought matches that the Yellow Jackets managed to win.
The first match of the day for the Jackets was a doubles contest between Chen Dong and Ángel Guerrero Melgar of Georgia Tech versus Hernandez/Colas of Mississippi State. Dong/Guerrero Melgar took the match 7-6(1) and would be the first match from the White and Gold to conclude their round.
The singles action for the day ended when Keshav Chopra defeated Carles Hernandez of Mississippi State 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Chopra fought back from being down early in the third set to take the match.
Guerrero Melgar won his singles match 7-5, 6-4, against Davide Tortora of Mississippi State. Despite the close score, Guerrero Melgar held the lead for most of the match.
Dong dropped his singles match against Florian Broska of Mississippi State, 6-3, 6-2.
The final day of the GT Invite starts on Sunday at 11 a.m.
