TOP STORYLINES
• Georgia Tech baseball enters postseason mode when it travels to Durham, N.C. to play North Carolina and Virginia in Pool B on May 23-24.
• Tech is coming off tough losses to then-No. 21 UVA, leading late in the games twice but unable to close out the wins.
• However, Tech has taken two of its last three ACC series, including over Duke in the Durham Bulls Athletic Park – home of the ACC Tournament.
• Tech continues to mash at the plate, hitting .346 in their last 15 games, including 30 home runs.
• During that stretch, Angelo Dispigna (.471), Stephen Reid (.410) and John Giesler (.396) have all hit .390 or better to lead the way.
• Overall this season, Tech (.325) has its entire starting lineup hitting .280 or better: Dispigna (.390), Kristian Campbell (.382), Jake DeLeo (.365), Reid (.353), Giesler (.336), Jackson Finley (.330), Drew Compton (.320), Jadyn Jackson (.392) and Jack Rubenstein (.280).
• Georgia Tech had five Yellow Jackets selected to the 2023 All-ACC teams.
• Reid led the way with first-team honors, while DeLeo, Dispigna and Finley all earned second-team honors. Campbell was lauded to the league’s third-team as well as all-freshman.
• Getting the start for Tech in Game 1 of Pool Play will be trusted righty Ben King.
• King has worked to Tech’s best ERA, currently at 3.21, with a 6-1 record in 24 appearances and two starts. He’s worked to a 53:14 strikeout-to-walk ratio and held hitters to a .200 average.
