Jackets Ranked in Latest ITA National Poll

THE FLATS – Three players on the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team have once again been recognized in the latest ITA Division I Men’s National Poll. In addition to the singles and doubles rankings, Tech has been ranked at No. 68 out of the top 75 teams.

ITA Division I Men’s Top 125 Singles Rankings – March 21:
No. 34 Andres Martin
No. 60 Marcus McDaniel
No. 86 Keshav Chopra

ITA Division I Men’s Top 80 Doubles Rankings – March 21:
No. 20 Andres Martin & Marcus McDaniel

Playing at the No. 1 position, No. 34 Andres Martin is 13-4 in dual match play with eight wins over nationally ranked opponents. In conference play, Martin has been victorious in two out of his four matches with one of the four ending unfinished.

No. 60 Marcus McDaniel currently has the best dual match record on the team. He is 13-3 and has one seven of his last 10 matches. McDaniel has won 10 competitions at the No. 2 position with five victories over ranked opponents.

In last week’s ACC matchups at Clemson and Boston College, No. 86 Keshav Chopra was an impactful player for the Jackets. He earned two set victories over both of his opponents and improved to 12-5 in dual match play. Chopra is currently 3-4 in conference singles play including a victory over a nationally ranked opponent.

Despite going 1-1 this past week, No. 20 Martin and McDaniel continue to be Tech’s top doubles team. The duo has won eight of their last 10 matches and is 10-3 in dual match play. Most recently, the pair of Jackets helped Tech claim the doubles point against Clemson with a 6-4 victory.
