April 19, 2007

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech baseball team continues its four-game homestand this weekend when it hosts NC State (27-11, 11-7 ACC) in the Yellow Jackets’ first home ACC series in three weeks. First pitch for Friday and Saturday is 7 p.m., while Tech and State will wrap up the series with a 1 p.m. game Sunday.

The Yellow Jackets (23-14, 10-7) stopped Georgia, 8-2, Wednesday night at Russ Chandler Stadium behind a strong bullpen performance and a balanced offensive attack. Tech collected nine hits, including three by freshman Patrick Long and two by preseason All-America Danny Payne, while holding the Bulldogs to two runs on six hits while striking out five.

Georgia Tech has won 10 of its last 13 games while NC State is 10-3 in its last 13 contests as well. Over the last 19 games, Georgia Tech has posted a 14-5 record as the pitching staff has held opponents to just 3.5 runs per game and a .254 average.

PARKING: Due to multiple events taking place on and around the Georgia Tech campus this weekend, there will be various roads closed for portions of the weekend. The following is a list of roads/intersections affected, as well as the times:

(1) Sting Break Carnival/Concert
Ferst Drive at Atlantic. (Thurs., April 19, 9 a.m. until Sat., April 21, 4 a.m.)
Ferst Drive at 4th Street (Thurs., April 19, 9 a.m. until Sat., April 21, 4 a.m.)

Due to this event, people attending the baseball game are encouraged to park in the Coliseum, O’Keefe and Peters’ Lots along Fowler Street, thereby avoiding the middle portion of campus

(2) Tour de Georgia
Fifth Street from West Peachtree to Techwood Dr. (Sunday, periodically all day)
Techwood Dr. from 5th St. to North Ave. (Sunday, periodically all day)

This event will cause the Tech Square and Techwood Drive portions of campus to be opened and closed as the Tour de Georgia concludes with up to nine laps around the Atlanta Stage of the race. Fowler Street will still be open, as will all parking decks and lots to the west of the I-75/85 connector.
