Jackets Handle Wallace Dothan CC, 17-2

ATLANTA – Senior Caitlin Lever drove in five runs and hit a home run to lead Georgia Tech past Wallace Dothan Community College, 17-2, in 10 innings on Friday at Glenn Field.

Senior pitcher Sarah Wood worked four innings, allowing one hit and struck out five for the win. Sophomore transfer Tiffany Johnson went 3-for-5, with a double, triple and five runs batted in for the Jackets.

Junior catcher Savannah Brown connected on a solo home run in the third inning, finishing the day with two walks and three runs scored, while sophomore transfer Jennifer Yee went 2-for-3, with two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Junior shortstop Aileen Morales stole a couple of bases and scored three runs for Tech, while sophomore center fielder Blair Shimandle made a nice diving catch in the fourth inning to keep Wallace Dothan CC off the scoreboard.

The Yellow Jackets will host Young Harris College next Friday, Oct. 13, at 2:30 p.m. The 14-inning game will be at Glenn Field.
