Jackets Belt Four Homers to Sweep Ga. Southern

Box Score (.pdf)

THE FLATS – Jackson Finley launched two home runs – including a 116-mph, 461-foot mammoth blast – to power Georgia Tech baseball to a 13-7 victory and series sweep over Georgia Southern on Tuesday night at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Finley’s homers were a part of the Yellow Jackets’ (18-11) four home run day. Angelo Dispigna launched one in the third inning followed by Kristian Campbell, who also belted his first career home run in the same inning.

Overall, Finley finished 4-for-4 on the day with five RBI, also lacing an RBI double in the sixth. Dispigna finished with three hits and four RBI, while Campbell, Jadyn Jackson, Jake DeLeo and Nicholas Romano all finished with two hits. Jackson and Tyler Minnick also drove in a run apiece.

On the mound, Tech was impressive, falling one strikeout shy as a team from tying the school record, finishing with 18 on the night. RHP Logan McGuire made his first start since Feb. 25 due to injury and looked good in his only inning of work with just a solo HR allowed and two strikeouts. RHP Aeden Finateri (2-1) then took the next three innings, allowing just two earned runs (all on one home run swing) on two hits with a career-high six strikeouts.

LHP Camron Hill then took the next 2.0 innings and fanned three batters with just one hit against him and the only walk of the day for the Georgia Tech staff. RHP Jackson Vaughan then allowed just one earned run (a solo homer) on two hits with four strikeouts before LHP Joseph Mannelly punched out the side to finish the ninth.

The Eagles (14-15) were led by JD Kaiser, who homered twice on the night. RHP Jonah Milchuck (0-1) took the loss, surrendering three runs on three hits in 0.1 innings of work.

Georgia Tech remains home in a five-game homestead, including four games in five days, when it hosts North Carolina on April 6-8. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday and will be broadcast live on ACC Network.
