THE FLATS – Georgia Tech baseball will gather on Monday to watch the 2022 NCAA Tournament’s official field of 64 be announced and where it will head for the first round of the NCAA Tournament during the NCAA’s Selection Show at noon on ESPN2.
The Yellow Jackets have won seven of their last eight games as their resume has taken shape as the No. 21 RPI team.
- Georgia Tech closed its schedule against ACC teams with series wins over then-No. 13 Florida State, North Carolina, then-No. 3 Miami and Pitt before defeating then-No. 7 Louisville in the ACC Tournament.
- Georgia Tech battled the fifth-toughest strength of schedule in the country (.5791) this year with its opponents’ record sitting at a whopping 1785-1207. Tech faced the third-toughest schedule in the ACC (behind Florida State and North Carolina).
- Only one team in the country has more wins against top-25 RPI teams than Georgia Tech’s 13-8 record (Tennessee’s 16).
- Georgia Tech has 16 top-50 RPI wins overall. Only Tennessee and North Carolina have more.
- Georgia Tech played a whopping 32 games against top-50 RPI teams overall – good for second-most in the country.
- Georgia Tech has won head-to-head series against top-10 RPI teams North Carolina (No. 4) and Virginia Tech (No. 5) and are 7-3 overall in games against current top-10 RPI teams.
- The Jackets have also won five series against top-30 teams and all but one series loss for Tech this season has come against top-35 teams.
The NCAA Regionals will begin on June 3 in their respective sites with NCAA Super Regionals taking place June 10-13 and the College World Series beginning on June 17.
