July 18, 2006

GREENSBORO, N.C. – A pair of incoming freshmen, Angel Buie of Sanford, NC and Tiffany Blackmon of Gastonia, NC, represented Georgia Tech in the 2006 North Carolina Coaches Association’s East-West All-Star Game Monday night at the Greensboro Coliseum.

While Bertie High School standout Jessica Breland earned Most Valuable Player honors by leading the East team to a 80-67 victory, Blackmon, a graduate of Hunter Huss High School, led the all players on the boards with 10 rebounds while adding seven points for the West squad.

Buie, an all-state guard from Lee County High School, scored seven points in the win for the East, which improved its record to 18-14 in the all-star competition.

Blackmon and Buie will now return to the Flats to continue summer classes this week.
