April 18, 2005

ATLANTA – Junior Chaunte Howard was named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Performer of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday. Howard earns the honor for the second time this outdoor season.

Howard, a native of Riverside, Calif., posted the nation’s top mark at the Mt. Sac Relays with a mark of 6 feet, 4 inches, in the women’s high jump invitational. She won her 25th consecutive collegiate competition with that mark and tied former U.S. Olympian teammate Amy Acuff for first place.

Howard will try and win her sixth straight ACC high jump crown this weekend at the outdoor ACC Championships in Tallahassee, Fla. The outdoor meet is scheduled to start on Thursday and run through Saturday.
