Hourigan Falls to Top Seed in Riviera/ITA All-American

PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. – Junior Paige Hourigan opened tournament play on Thursday, competing in main draw singles at the Riviera/ITA All-American. Hourigan fell in the opening round to the top seeded player.

Capturing a Victory
Hourigan, preseason ranked No. 23, took on the No. 1 preseason ranked player, Hayley Carter of North Carolina, in the round of 32 on Thursday. Hourigan fell in the first set 6-2, but pushed Carter in the second set to the finish. Carter proved victorious, capturing the match with a 7-5 second set victory.

Moving into the main draw backdraw, Hourigan returns to the court tomorrow to take on Ole Miss’ Arianne Hartono at 3:30 p.m. Hartono, ranked No. 17 in the ITA preseason rankings, lost to qualifier Lily Miyazaki this afternoon in straight sets.
