Hern Leads Tech on Day One of Yellow Jacket Invitational

ATLANTA – Kimery Hern placed third in the women’s hammer throw as the Georgia Tech track and field teams opened the 2008 Yellow Jacket Invitational Friday evening at the George C. Griffin Track on the Georgia Tech campus.

Hern tossed the hammer 188 feet, 5 inches in the opening event of the Tech hosted meet. Alana Clooten finished the hammer throw fifth behind a mark of 181 feet, 5 inches on her home infield.

The meet will continue Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the shot put and javelin. Running events will commence at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
