Hamilton Featured In College Football Hall of Fame Exhibit

ATLANTA (August 7) — Georgia Tech quarterback Joe Hamilton (Alvin, S.C.), a leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy, will be featured in the College Football Hall of Fame this fall in an exhibit titled “The Race for the Pantheon 1999.”

The College Football Hall of Fame, located in South Bend, Ind., has a permanent exhibit called The Pantheon that features the winners of college football’s major awards, including the Heisman Trophy. Each year, the Hall does an additional exhibit, The Race for the Pantheon, highlighting the 10 players most frequently mentioned in preseason publications as leading candidates for these awards.

Hamilton, a 5-10, 189-pound senior, has earned numerous preseason accolades as an all-America and Heisman Trophy candidate after a spectacular junior season in which he guided the Yellow Jackets to a 10-2 record, a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference title and a victory over Notre Dame in the Toyota Gator Bowl. He passed for 2,166 yards and 17 touchdowns while rushing for 298 yards and four more scores in 1998.

This fall, Hamilton directs a Tech squad that is ranked 11th in the preseason USA Today/ESPN poll.
