Hamilton-Carter Scores 18 in loss to Romania

July 20, 2010

Georgia Tech rising sophomore Danielle Hamilton-Carter continued her impressive performance at the 2010 European Championships by scoring 18 points but the U20 Swedish National Team dropped a 67-50 decision to Romania Tuesday in Grobiņa, Latvia.

Hamilton-Carter was eight-of-18 from the field and grabbed eight boards for Sweden. Incoming freshman Frida Fogdemark added 13 points and six rebounds in the loss.

Romania used an 11-2 run midway through the first quarter to jump ahead by 12 points. And they used a 13-0 surge in the second period to push the margin to 19 points.

The Swedes were simply overpowered and could not cut the deficit to single digits the rest of the game.

Sweden will look to rebound Wednesday when it plays Bulgaria in Grobiņa.
