Tournament Central | NCAA Singles Bracket

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech sophomore All-American Guillermo Gomez will begin first-round play at the 2009 NCAA Singles Championships on Wednesday in College Station, Texas. Gomez will face 22nd-ranked Saketh Myneni of Alabama at 3 p.m. at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.

The Alicante, Spain native will be a 9-16 seed in the tournament draw, and is currently 28-9 on the season. The two-time All-ACC honoree is playing in the NCAA field of 64 for the second-straight season.

Both Gomez and Myneni were named the ITA Player to Watch for their respective regions a little over a week ago. Myneni, who was named to the 2009 All-SEC First Team, holds a 19-10 singles record while going 14-7 in dual match play at the No. 1 position for the Tide.

Gomez defeated Myneni by a 6-4, 6-1 score earlier this season at the Key Biscayne Invitational in January.
