Tulsa, Okla, – Georgia Tech’s Guillermo Gomez continued his advance through the consolation bracket Friday at the D’Novo All-American Championships, defeating Moritz Baumann of Wisconsin after dropping the first set at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa.

Gomez, a sophomore from Alicante, Spain, lost the first set 4-6, then rallied to defeat Baumann, 7-5, 6-0. He faces Balasz Novak of Ohio State at 10:30 a.m. Eastern time Saturday and would reach the consolation final if he wins.

Ranked 33rd in the nation, Gomez dropped his first-round match in the main draw Thursday to Denes Lukacs of Baylor, the nation’s No. 2-ranked player, but bounced back to defeat Chris Clayton of Harvard in straight sets in his first consolation match.
