THE FLATS — Georgia Tech will play a future home-and-home series with American Athletic Conference member Central Florida, the Athletic Association announced Monday.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Orlando, Fla., on Sept. 16, 2017, and will host UCF on Sept. 19, 2020. The teams haven’t met since 2000; Georgia Tech leads the all-times series 3-0. All three series have occurred at Bobby Dodd Stadium (1996, 1999, 2000).
In October 2014, the Jackets announced a home-and-home deal with UCF’s regional rival, USF, which will be played in 2021 (Atlanta) and 2022 (Tampa).
UCF is coached by George O’Leary, who was Georgia Tech’s head coach from 1995-2001. He was also an assistant coach on Tech’s 1990 National Championship team.
With the addition of UCF, Georgia Tech will play one American Athletic Conference opponent in each season from 2017-2022.
Georgia Tech opens the 2015 season on Thursday, Sept. 3, when the Yellow Jackets host Alcorn State at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Season tickets are on sale now. Fans can purchase tickets in person at the Georgia Tech Ticket Office (M-F 9 a.m.-5 p.m.), by phone at 888-TECH-TIX, or online at togetherweswarm.com. Season tickets for Tech’s seven-game home schedule start at just $245 — a value of $35 per game. Great lower-level seats are available from $350. There is no per-game ticket or Tech Fund price increase in 2015. The only difference is the addition of a seventh home game (Georgia).
