Georgia Tech's Scott Blackmon Wins Doubles Title at ITA Summer Circuit Event

Scott Blackmon, a sophomore on the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team, captured the doubles championship at the 2005 ITA Southeast Summer Circuit held in Chapel Hill, NC, this week.

Blackmon teammed with Zach Ganger of the University of Utah, and posted a walkover win due to an injury to Will Plyer and David Stone of North Carolina. In the semifinals, Blackmon and Ganger paired to defeat Tech’s doubles team of Jordan Delass and George Gvelesiani, 8-3.

In singles action, Delass was the Jacket’s top performer, winning four matches and advancing to the semifinals before falling to NC State’s Mason Schermerhorn in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (9). Gvelesiani defeated Michael Jakielski in the Round of 64 before falling to Damon Martin of North Carolina A&T, 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (8) while Blackmon also fell in the Round of 32 to Kevin Galloway in three sets, 2-6, 7-6, 1-0 (7).
