Sept. 4, 2006

ATLANTA – Senior David Herren was named Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Performer of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Herren finished 11th overall leading the Jackets to a top-five finish at the Belmont Opener last weekend.

Herren, a senior from Rome, Ga., was the top finisher for the Jackets, posting a time of 15:14.09 on the 5K course, just over 13 seconds off the individual champion’s time of 15:01.09. The race featured 11 total teams, 10 of which were division I schools.

Last season Herren finished in the top four for the Jackets in all five races he competed in.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Friday, September 15, 2006, at the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn.
