THE FLATS – For the second straight year, Georgia Tech’s men’s basketball team will tip off its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule against North Carolina, visiting the 2022 national runner-up Tar Heels on Dec. 10 at the Dean Smith Center. It is the first of three conference games the Yellow Jackets will play in December, the other two against Clemson and Virginia at home around the holiday break.
The entire ACC schedule for all 15 teams was announced Tuesday by the conference office. The Yellow Jackets’ non-conference schedule is now complete as well. Tip times and television coverage will be announced in the near future.
The early visit to Chapel Hill marks the fourth time in head coach Josh Pastner’s tenure that the Yellow Jackets meet the Tar Heels in December. Tech follows that contest with games against traditional home-and-away rival Clemson on Dec. 21 and Virginia on New Year’s Eve, both at McCamish Pavilion.
The Jackets actually have seven of their 11 ACC games at home before the end of January. When the calendar flips to 2023, Tech entertains Miami on Jan. 4, Pittsburgh on Jan. 14, NC State on Jan. 17, Syracuse on Jan. 21 and Duke on Jan. 28. Pastner’s Jackets play at home only three times in their final nine conference games covering February and March – Feb. 8 vs. traditional home-and-away rival Notre Dame, Feb. 15 vs. defending ACC Champion Virginia Tech and Feb. 25 vs. Louisville.
On the road, Tech travels to Florida State and Notre Dame back-to-back on Jan. 7 and 10 before returning the trip to Clemson on Jan. 24 in the first half of the conference schedule. In the back half, the Yellow Jackets have another back-to-back road swing at Louisville (Feb. 1) and NC State (Feb. 4) and single trips to Wake Forest (Feb. 11) and Pittsburgh (Feb. 21) before closing out the regular season on the road at Syracuse (Feb. 28) and Boston College (March 4).
The 70th annual ACC Tournament will be played March 7-11 at the Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum.
