THE FLATS – Georgia Tech and Temple have agreed to a home-and-home football series, the schools announced on Wednesday. Georgia Tech will travel to Philadelphia to face Temple on Sept. 28, 2019 and will host the Owls at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Sept. 20, 2025.
Georgia Tech and Temple have never met on the gridiron. The 2019 game at Lincoln Financial Field (home of the National Football League’s Philadelphia Eagles) will mark the Yellow Jackets’ first contest in the City of Brotherly Love since a 13-12 loss at Penn on Nov. 14, 1931.
Temple is coached by former Georgia Tech graduate assistant (1999-2000), tight ends coach (2001) and director of player personnel (2006) Geoff Collins.
The Jackets are 70-26-1 all-time against current members of the American Athletic Conference. Tech has previously played seven of the 12 members of the American and has a winning record against all seven (Tulane — 36-13; Navy — 16-9; SMU — 8-2-1; UConn — 3-0; UCF — 3-0; Memphis 2-1; Tulsa — 2-1). The Jackets have future contests scheduled versus American opponents UCF (Sept. 16, 2017 and Sept. 19, 2020) and USF (Sept. 8, 2018 and Sept. 7, 2019).
With the addition of Temple, Georgia Tech’s 2019 non-conference schedule is complete. In addition to traveling to Temple on Sept. 28, the Yellow Jackets host USF (Sept. 7), The Citadel (Sept. 14) and Georgia (Nov. 30).
Georgia Tech’s 2017 six-game season tickets and Flex Packs, which are the only options to purchase the limited tickets remaining for the regular-season finale versus archrival Georgia on Nov. 25, are on sale beginning at just $125. Click HERE for more information and to purchase tickets online.
