Georgia Tech Softball Announces 2018 Schedule

Dec. 22, 2017

THE FLATS – Home series against Atlantic Coast Conference powers Florida State and North Carolina and non-conference games versus Alabama and Georgia highlight Georgia Tech softball’s 2018 schedule, which was announced on Friday.

The Yellow Jackets’ 56-game regular-season slate includes 27 home contests, featuring three-game ACC series versus defending conference champion Florida State (March 30-April 1) and runner-up North Carolina (April 20-22). The Jackets also host national power Alabama (March 14) and archrival Georgia (April 4) in non-conference action.

Additionally, Mewborn Field will be site of the 2018 ACC Tournament (May 9-12).

“I am eager to take the field this spring with our 2018 squad,” said head coach Aileen Morales. “Each member of our roster has stepped up their work ethic and passion for the game. We welcome the opportunity to compete against a slate of quality opponents. We are fortunate enough to have a top tier facility where we can play 27 home contests-giving our student-athletes the ability to also excel in the classroom, due to less time on the road. But make no mistake, hosting Alabama, UGA, FSU and UNC at “the Mew” are contests we look to as opportunities to show our growth as a program. Lastly, we are focused on becoming the best we can each day, which will result in us competing in the ACC Championship here in May.”

Georgia Tech kicks off the season in Gulf Shores, Ala. at the Sand Dollar Classic (Feb. 9-11), where it will play Lamar, Penn State, Florida A&M and Lipscomb in the first of its five non-conference tournaments.

The Jackets open their home slate by hosting Nebraska and Indiana in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge (Feb. 16-18) and welcome DePaul, Connecticut and Detroit for their second home tournament, the I-75 Challenge (March 2-4).

The Camel Stampede at Campbell University (Feb. 23-25) and the Matador Classic at Cal State-Northridge (March 23-25) round out the Jackets’ regular-season tournaments.

In addition to Alabama and Georgia, Tech also hosts Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Presbyterian, and Jacksonville State for non-conference games.

In conference action, the Jackets host weekend series with NC State (Mar. 16-18) and Virginia Tech (April 27-29) in addition to the series against FSU and UNC. On the road, Tech takes on Virginia (March 9-11), Duke (April 6-8), Pittsburgh (April 13-15) and Boston College (May 4-6).
