ALVARADO, WRIGHT BUSY IN PRE-DRAFT WORKOUT CIRCUIT

Georgia Tech forward Moses Wright performed well in last week’s NBA Draft Combine, scoring 22 points (10-of-18 FG) with 10 rebounds in two scrimmages, while Jose Alvarado enjoyed a good performance in the G League Elite Camp, and both received a good number of invitations from NBA teams for workouts.

Wright, one of 69 players who participated in the NBA Combine, has worked out for Golden State, Memphis, Milwaukee, New York and San Antonio, and has sessions scheduled with Dallas, Detroit and Indiana. Alvarado, one of 40 players who participated in the G League camp, has visited Golden State, Memphis, Milwaukee and New York, and will visit Dallas, New York, Phoenix, Toronto and Utah.

While Wright has said he is “all-in” in his quest to play professionally, Alvarado has left the door open to return to Tech and must decide by July 7 whether to remain eligible for the July 29 draft.

OKOGIE COMFIRMS HE HAS MADE NIGERIA OLYMPIC TEAM

Timberwolves wing Josh Okogie has confirmed he’ll be part of the Nigerian team that competes in the Olympics next month. Nigeria’s preliminary roster included 49 names, which the program will have to pare down to 12 for Tokyo.

Okogie has represented Nigeria in international competition in the past, but he’s never appeared in the Olympics. It is only the third time ever that Nigeria will have a team in the Games. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and his family moved to the United States when he was three. The former Georgia Tech star played for Nigeria at the 2019 FIBA World Cup, averaging 12.6 points in five games. He has played three seasons for the Wolves.

Expect Okogie to be a key piece of what Nigeria does on both ends of the floor. If they’re going to surprise people and pull out some upsets in Tokyo, Okogie will be part of it.
