Georgia Tech Postgame Quotes - Game 2

June 4, 2010

GEORGIA TECH COACH Danny Hall
Opening Statement:
“It certainly was a great ball game for us. I never dreamed that (Mark Pope) would go nine innings, nor throw a shutout. He kept his pitch count down. He threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts, two walks against a very good hitting Mercer team.”

On Tony Plagman’s First Inning Home Run:
“I thought Tony’s first inning home run really relaxed everybody on the team. Then his two run shot gave us a little distance.”

On the Play of the Senior Class:
“These guys have not only been great players for us, they’ve been dean’s list students. They are good student-athlete role models. They’ve been through a lot of battles, not only in ACC play, but post-season play. They’ve just done a very good job of showing our team the way.”

Mark Pope, SO, RHP
On Pitching a Complete Game:
“I was running on straight adrenaline in the ninth inning. I got the chills when the crowd started to chant.”

Tony Plagman, SR, 1B
On the crowd’s ovation in his final at bat:
“It was pretty great. It was a great feeling to the start of Regional’s. You can’t ask for anything better and with the crowd cheering, you just want to get that last hit.”

On Going 5-for-5:
“The umpire had a pretty big strike zone, so I tried to take advantage of some pitches to hit.”
