THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech softball team is back in action this week when it hosts Mercer in a midweek matchup Wednesday at Mewborn Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.

Georgia Tech
The Yellow Jackets (8-2) are coming off a 3-2 weekend at the Georgia Tech Classic. Tech suffered its first two losses of the season at the tournament both to Indiana.
Hope Rush leads the team with a .429 batting average, five home runs and 19 RBI. She leads the ACC in slugging percentage (1.000), RBI, home runs and total bases (28).
Ashley Thomas leads the squad with 13 hits, and Alysha Rudnik is tops with nine walks and tied with Chelsie Thomas for a team-high 12 runs.
As a team, Tech is batting .354 – the highest average in the league. Tech leads the conference in batting average and in 12 additional batting categories.
In the circle, Rush owns a team-best 3.22 ERA with a 4-2 record. Over the weekend, Karly Fullem earned her first win of the season and Kylie Kleinschmidt is 3-0 on the year with a 5.73 ERA.
Mercer
The Bears opened the season going 5-1 at the Mercer Invitational and recently dropped all four games at the Kennesaw State Invitational to fall to an even 5-5 on the season.
McKenzie Woody leads Mercer with a .472 batting average, 17 hits and seven stolen bases. Molly Garmany has five hits on the season, four of which were home runs and the other was a double to total a team-best 12 RBI.
Kerri Nidiffer and Julia Rice share time in the circle as each have at least 30.0 innings pitched. Nidiffer (2-4) has an ERA of 1.35 and Rice (3-1) owns a 4.43 ERA.
Series History
The contest will mark the 62nd matchup between the two schools and the first of two this season as the Jackets travel down to Macon, Ga. April 10 for a 6 p.m. game.
The Jackets lead the all-time series 48-13 and head coach Sharon Perkins is 4-1 against the Bears. The teams last met on March 14, 2010 at The Mew when the Jackets defeated the Bears, 10-5.
