GALLERY: Women’s Basketball in Split, Croatia

DAY 3: Split, Croatia
Wednesday, Aug. 9

10 a.m. – Players took part in a scavenger hunt around Split, finding local historic landmarks such as a replica of Saint Mark’s square, a sphinx carved into a wall, image of the last Roman Emperor Julius Nepos and local soccer team Hajduk symbols.

3 p.m. – The team walked down for pre-game meal at a local restaurant, Spalatin.

7 p.m. – Georgia Tech played its first of three games this trip, defeating Split Select, 105-25. Freshman Rusne Augustinaite led the Yellow Jackets with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including five three-pointers, followed by Kara Dunn (15), Tonie Morgan (12) and Jada Bediako (10). Kayla Blackshear and Morgan each pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Yellow Jackets on the glass. Morgan finished with a strong stat line, dishing out a team-best five assists.

Inés Noguero swiped a team-high six steals, while Sydney Johnson finished with five. Johnson and Noguero each added nine points to the scoreboard.

DAY 2: Split, Croatia to Krka National Park
Tuesday, Aug. 8

8:45 a.m. – The group loaded the buses for an hour drive to Krka National Park in southern Croatia. The park is known for its seven waterfalls and is situated along the Krka River.

10 a.m. – Upon arriving to Krka National Park, the travel party enjoyed a guided tour of the park, exploring trails and footpaths, while learning the history and facts about one of the largest national parks in the country.

12:30 p.m. – After some free time, the group boarded a boat for a 20-minute ride to Skradin where lunch was served. Following some free time in the town, the group traveled back to Split and enjoyed the remainder of the day with free time.

Krka National Park

DAY 1: Atlanta, Ga. to Split, Croatia
Sunday-Monday, Aug. 6-7

Aug. 6, 5:45 p.m. – The travel party began its 12-hour trip to Split, Croatia, departing Atlanta, Ga., with a layover in Amsterdam.

Aug. 7, 9:50 a.m. – Everyone caught the connecting flight for the final leg of the travel from Amsterdam to Split, Croatia.

Noon – The travel party was treated to a Croatian lunch and tour at Stella Croatica, experiencing the countryside business/location and the products harvested and produced on site.

6 p.m. – The group took a guided walking tour of Split, visiting the Diocletian’s Palace, Temple of Jupiter, monumental gates and the substructures of the city.
