GALLERY: Jackets Spend Final Day in Barcelona

After spending six days in Croatia, Georgia Tech women’s basketball concluded its final stretch of the foreign tour. The team spent three days in Barcelona, Spain.

DAY 9: Barcelona, Spain
Tuesday, Aug. 15

10 a.m. – On the group’s final day of the foreign tour, the travel party had the opportunity to enjoy a catamaran ride. The three-hour trip rode along the coast of Barcelona and provided a chance for swimming and relaxation.

1-5 p.m. – Free time. With the hours winding down on the trip, the group had free time to pick up last-minute souvenirs or sightsee in Barcelona.

6-9 p.m. – The group’s final experience was a native cultural performance as the group enjoyed dinner and a Flamenco show. Flamenco is performance art based on the musical traditions of southern Spain. The team will travel back to Atlanta on Wednesday.

Final Day in Barcelona

DAY 8: Barcelona, Spain
Monday, Aug. 14

10:30 a.m. – Visiting one of the most famous sites in Barcelona, the group had a guided tour of Sagrada Familia in the morning. Designed by architect Antoni Gaudi, the church remains under construction since breaking ground in 1882. Gaudi designed the church using Gothic and Art Nouveau forms.

2 p.m. – The team enjoyed a pregame meal at the hotel restaurant to fuel for the final game of the trip.

6 p.m. – Georgia Tech defeated Barcelona Select, 84-56, behind three players in double-figures. Tonie Morgan led the way with 14 points, followed by Kara Dunn with 12 points and Rusne Augustinaite with 11 points. The travel group will spend its final day in Barcelona on Tuesday before heading back to Atlanta on Wednesday.

DAY 7: Dubrovnik, Croatia to Barcelona, Spain
Sunday, Aug. 13

5:45 a.m. – The group had an early morning wakeup call to depart to the Dubrovnik airport.

8:40 a.m. – It just over an hour and a half flight, the group landed in Barcelona for the final leg of the trip.

1 p.m. – After a group lunch, the travel party had a free afternoon in Barcelona.

6-8 p.m. – The immediate team participated in a community service activity, helping administer a basketball clinic. With three Yellow Jackets from Spain, giving back to the local community was an important stop on the tour.
