Football 16th in First AP Top 25 Poll

Aug. 23, 2015

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech is ranked No. 16 in the first Associated Press Top 25 poll, which was released Sunday. The Yellow Jackets, who finished last year ranked No. 8 by the AP, are also ranked No. 17 in the Amway Coaches Preseason poll.

The Jackets enter the 2015 season as the third-highest ranked team in the ACC, following Atlantic Division members Florida State (No. 10) and Clemson (No. 12).

Four of Tech’s 2015 opponents are ranked in the preseason AP poll – Florida State, Georgia (No. 9), Notre Dame (No. 11) and Clemson.

The defending Orange Bowl and ACC Coastal Division champions are 11 days from opening the 2015 season when Georgia Tech welcomes Alcorn State on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Tech is ranked in the preseason Top 25 for the first time since 2010 when the Jackets were ranked 16th by the Associated Press and 17th by the coaches.

As season-ticket sales continue on record pace, fans can purchase tickets in person at the Georgia Tech Ticket Office (M-F 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), by phone at 888-TECH-TIX, or online at togetherweswarm.com.
