ATLANTA – Georgia Tech rising sophomore Irina Falconi overcame a tough first set to reach her second straight USTA Pro Circuit semifinal behind a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over top-seeded Alexandra Mueller at the Norman Wilkerson Tennis Experience at the Sugarcreek Tennis Center in Atlanta, Ga.

Falconi struggled early against Mueller’s big serve but turned things around in the second set. In the decisive third set, Falconi was able to break Mueller’s serve with the score tied at 4-4 and held serve to earn her second straight trip to a Pro Circuit semifinal match.

Last weekend, Falconi dropped her semifinal match to No. 1-seeded Stephanie DuBois at the Grapevine 50K Women’s Tennis Classic.
