Exhibition Between No. 1 Tech Baseball and Atlanta Braves Called in Fourth Inning

Feb. 27, 2003

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Thursday afternoon’s exhibition game between top-ranked Georgia Tech and the Atlanta Braves was called with two outs in the top of the fourth inning due to inclement weather. The score was tied at 3-3 at the time the game was halted.

The Yellow Jackets took a 3-0 in the top of the first inning with a pair of two-out base hits. Eric Patterson and Brandon Boggs led off the game with back to back singles, but the next two hitters failed to advance the runners. After a two-out walk to Clifton Remole, Mike Nickeas and Tyler Greene delivered a pair of run scoring singles to plate Patterson, Boggs and Remole.

The Braves immediately tied the score with three runs in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run from Chipper Jones and a solo shot by Andruw Jones.

The two teams then played scoreless baseball until the game was stopped in the top of the fourth inning.

Georgia Tech will return to action on Friday when the Yellow Jackets face George Washington in their 2003 home opener at Russ Chandler Stadium. First pitch for the game at Russ Chandler Stadium is set for 4 p.m., and live statistics for the contest will be available at www.ramblinwreck.com.
