ATLANTA– – Eight Georgia Tech football players were named to the all-Atlantic Coast Conference football team, announced by the Atlantic Coast Sportswriters Association. Six Tech players were named to the first team, including repeat selections defensive end Greg Gathers, wide receiver Kelly Campbell, and placekicker Luke Manget.
Also named the first team were running back Joe Burns, offensive tackle Nat Dorsey and return specialist Kelley Rhino, all first-time all-conference honorees, while defensive end Nick Rogers and free safety Jeremy Muyres earned second-team honors for the second straight year.
Quarterback George Godsey, linebacker Recardo Wimbush, tackle Jason Kemble and cornerback Marvious Hester received honorable mention recognition.
Gathers and Manget were named to the first-team for the second straight year, while Campbell earned all-ACC recognition for the third year, following second-team honors last year and first-team accolades in 1999.
Campbell is the first three-time all-ACC selection in Tech history. Dorsey is the first freshman named first-team all-ACC since North Carolina’s Dre Bly in 1996.
